It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of ARF’s President and Founder, Barbara Shea.
Barbara founded ARF thirty years ago and has left behind a tremendous legacy of service to animals and the community. She has helped thousands of animals in need, those without a voice, those unwanted, and those without a home until she opened the doors of her shelter to them. Barbara was a tireless advocate who helped countless animals find forever homes, helped them to heal and receive medical treatment, and allowed many to call ARF their forever home when adoption was not an option. Barbara will be terribly missed by the animals at the shelter – and deeply by ARF’s volunteers.
We love you, Barbara. Your life and work touched so many lives with hope and compassion. Rest in peace.

June 7, 2016 10:49 amBarbara never wanted accolades or celebrity. She worked tirelessly for her belief that all living things deserved love, respect and a forever home. She was the backbone of ARF and will be thought of and missed at ARF every day by every volunteer–because she was ARF. We will draw from her strength to continue the work she started and keep her legacy alive. Rest in Peace, my friend.
